EXP returned with the exceptional 2020 vintage resulting in the boldest vintage to date. A true field blend from the Experimental Cobb Family Vineyard, this blend has 12 of the varietals in the assemblage, led by Alicant Bouschet (31%); Syrah (15%); Tannat (14%), Tempranillo (8%), Negroamaro (8%) and Malbec (7%).
The wine was co-fermented as a harvested field blend having been harvested in various tranches across August 2020. After pressing, the wine settled in stainless steel tanks over winter and was barreled down in April 2021 where it sayed in French Oak barrels for 19 months. The wine was bottled in November 2022 and has enjoyed 15 months bottle aging prior to release.
Winemaker notes: Earthy aromas coincide with ripe plum, and red candied fruit. Black licorice savoriness lurks in the foreground. Big firm tannins leave a full bodied experience on the pallet. The most Structured EXP to date.
