JAN 2024 Tasting Notes: A lot of very savory, gamey and feral aromas emerge here. Wet fresh earth and hay make one think of a country barn. Lots of dark roast cofee and caramel also dominate the aroma. Behind all of that there is a cherry and ripe blueberry fruit note that comes through. Mild rustic tannins that are soft in nature and lead into more cherry and vanilla on the aroma and palate.
Winemaker Release Notes: EXP is short for Experimental, which is how we view the Cobb Family Vineyard. We originally planted nine grape varieties selected based on their sustainability for Texas' climate; today, we grow 16 different grape types in the experimental vineyard block. We decided to field blend 9 unique varietals into one wine, including white grapes. This medium bodied blend has a bouquet of pine and tobacco. The palate shows intense notes of blackberry, persimmon, mocha, and coffee.
